The Black Spot Tang (Acanthurus Bariene), also known as the Black Spot Surgeonfish, is a hard-to-find gem for advanced aquarists. 

Oval-shaped fish, with a steep forehead. The juveniles are fairly unremarkable, but as they mature their colours begin to show. The body is olive-brown with blue and yellow hues, the fins are yellow-orange with blue accents and the caudal fin is sharply forked. The caudal spine is black.

Bariene Tangs reach a maximum adult size of around 20 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 350 gallons. Need significant amounts of swimming room and rockwork. These are great fish for controlling algae in the saltwater fish or reef aquarium.

Bariene Tangs are semi-aggressive fish and shouldn't bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes them a good choice for larger reef tanks. Bariene Tangs can be aggressive towards other tangs, especially other Acanthurus Tangs. To help reduce aggression between Tangs, try to introduce all your tangs at the same time and make sure that there is a constant supply of algae for them to graze on.

The Bariene Tang fish is a herbivore. Its main diet consists of marine algae, having an unusually long digestive tract to digest the plant matter they eat. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week.
